Movie Marketing Madness

Engagement and interaction are two words hardly associated with movies, a one way communication channel. You go to a theater, you watch a movie, it entertains you and you go home with an opinion about it. You, as a viewer, have never had any direct influence on the movie, until now. I saw the following video and it blew my mind away. This video right here is movie marketing madness.
It releases the most basic itch of any movieĀ watcher. “Why doesn’t he go down.” “Don’t go in there.” “Go left, go right.” Viewers have always had an opinion about what the actor should do while a movie is on, this new technology integrated in cinema lets you do it.
Most importantly it:
- It does what no movies has been able to do before. It lets the audience decide the direction of the movie.
- It brings engagement to a whole new level . It’s like a sister product of augmented reality.
- If you thought 3D was the next best thing in television- Think again.
There is future possibility of this software use in children movies. With the use of this technology a movie could let the kids choose paths, that could be right or wrong. Ultimately teaching them the consequences of their decisions.
If as a company you have anything to do with movies, you should keep an eye out for this. Or simply hire me ![]()

This always existed. They are called games. Stories in which the player plays an active part to determine the outcome and its all done the way he wants it.
You should try it someday. Its a lot better than this. It does not limit you to merely give commands, you live the experience if you catch my drift. If not, read my blog =P.
oops wrong blog address
Awesome stuff.. I dont know whether it existed or not.. its just so much fun.. so much better than actual FPS games.. would love so see an extended demo…or a trail ;)..nice post..
Well, it certainly is interesting but it wont beat the immersion produced by most games today. It will certainly engage the watcher more but not totally immerse him. You really have to experience games other than FPS to really understand what I’m saying. Most FPS games do not have a good story line save a few. You should try playing games like Assassin’s creed, Bioshock, The Wicther, etc. Most RPGs give you at least 30-40 hours of gameplay content which is 10 times more than what a movie provides.
In any case, its interesting to see how this will take off. They came out with interactive books at one point but their success was only short lived after which they disappeared.
@Rushabh - I get your excitement about games. The reason this makes sense is , it is being tried on a medium that has little to no interaction.
While I agree that this model has been tried in books, movies are a complete different medium.
Come to NY sometime … will love to rant on about this, may be your games will convince me otherwise.
@kaushal … Thanks for the appreciation.
